…of socially distant visits and pain…

Like I have said previously, Nan and I have been keeping away from everyone since March. We skipped Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve with our friends and family. This was the most depressing year ever. Today, however, we got an outdoor, masked, socially distanced visit with Bee. It was so nice to see her. I’d have loved to hug her, but I’m just really glad to have gotten to spend so much time with her.

She gave us the most awesome gift as well. She got us lysol wipes!!! We were so excited. That’s 2020 for you, huh? She also gave us a whole bunch of her soaps including my two very favorites, December 21st and Lemon Poppyseed. (Go buy her soaps, please) She also added some of her amazing bath bombs. We haven’t tried these ones before, so I’m so excited. She also gave us some wonderful tea, some face masks (beauty, not covid), papers, and pot. Now let me preface this by saying that she works for a premiere marijuana dispensary here. They have some quality shit and their prices, though not exorbitant are indicative of that superior quality. (and the packaging is absolutely gorgeous!) I have been eyeing a specific strain that I was going to have her buy for me and I’d come to her to pick it up and pay. That one was one of the THREE strains she gave us. THREE!! We were so stoked! We are trying the Creamsicle one now and so far it has a great taste, is super smooth, and the high I’m getting is so relaxing and calming. It’s so nice. Anyway, after Bee had been here a few hours, Nan and I were pretty cold and Bee needed to get going and finish the rest of her day.

Nan and I had a simple dinner of southwest beans and cheddar brats. It was good. And thankfully it was also simple because my fibro is flaring very hard. I’m in so much pain. I have been sleeping for shit, like usual, and I’m hoping to go to bed early. Right now We’re watching 20/20 which is about Rodney Alcala. After that I’ll clean up from dinner and then go to bed. It was a really good day.

…of small visits and big excitement…

Can I just say how fucking excited I am? I get to have a socially distanced, outside, masked visit with my niece. We’re finally getting together to exchange Christmas/Yule gifts. At first I thought that we were going to have a through the window fly by visit. I am so happy that has changed. Nan came up with an awesome idea. We have a propane fire pit that we’re going to light to keep us warm. We’re going to have tea and sit and talk. It has been so long since we have spent any time together and it’s been way too long. I hope that we can do it again soon. I miss spending time with the people I love the most.

Words, while still half asleep…

So I made the world’s best cinnamon rolls last night. Yummy.

So, since Jen wasn’t feeling too good, I took her a few. We talked a lot. Mostly about death and the fact that we are both going to have a tough Christmas. I have to contend with the fact that my MIL isn’t here. There are certain things that she does for Christmas and no one else was allowed to. She put up the Christmas Village, there were several ornaments that she put up herself. Who is going to do that this year? Will dad even put up the tree? If so, will HER ornaments go up or stay in the boxes? Will he even attempt to put up the village. If he does, will he get it wrong? I will definitely notice if he doesn’t. Jen is spending this Christmas, for the first time, without her brother. That’s very significant. He’s always been home for Christmas and I really feel for her. We talked about our own mortality and the mortality of the people closest to us. It was just one of those nights. BUT… She is coming to my house for Thanksgiving… This is the first time ever. We (Jenny, Emily Rose and I) will be making a turkey, tofurkey, green bean casserole, green beans and spaetzels, the best (and most fattening) mashed potatoes in the effing world, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, corn, stuffing, warm butter rolls, sauteed wild mushrooms with spinach, cheesy potatoes augratin, garlic bread, egg nog, holiday mimosas, pumpkin pie, apple pie and gooey cinnamon rolls. We will be cooking for HOURS! But I am looking forward to it. Today, I have to clean the house and wash the floors. Let’s see if that happens mmm’okay?
